NTUAA BEGINNER GOLF CLUB
INTRODUCTION
Have you always wanted to learn and play golf but do not want to try it alone?
This club was formed in summer 2001 by a group of fearless golf beginners that started taking group lessons together at the Sunken Garden Golf Course in Sunnyvale. Since then the club is growing into a group of golf enthusiasts that come with all aspects of golf experiences to interact. We enjoy going outdoor open space and chasing after little white balls on the beautiful golf greens.
Through golf, we meet old and new friends, we network, we get healthy and mainly we recharge and enjoy life!
Scheduled Activities
1)Weekly: We practice swings, chipping, pitching and putting every Saturday morning 11 am – 12:30 pm at San Jose Municipal Golf Course Driving Range Upper Deck (1560 Oakland Rd, San Jose 408-461-4653) with occasional cancellation notice due to weather condition or other events conflict. Pending on their personal schedule availability, we currently have some of the experienced alumni golfers on site to generously volunteer their coaching help: Yu Ping Chung and Jack Chao.
Group lunch afterwards to relax and social is often held but optional.
2) Monthly: After taking golf lessons as deemed necessary and consistent practices, beginners are encouraged to go on to the course. At any time club members are urged to initiate and take turns to make tee time reservations at various golf courses to either form your own team or post unto the club e-group to form groups with other club players.
Basic criteria set by the club volunteer coaches to play on the course are: a) able to hit a minimum of 70-100 yd. b) have more than 60% hit rate. c) have practiced mid iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge and putter. d) able to sink in no more than 3 or 4 putt. e) have golf equipment and bag, know basic golf etiquette.
3) Annually: Year-end Holiday celebration party.
4) Lessons and Clinics: There are many places and alternatives for golf lessons and clinics. If you have any useful information, please let the club know to post the information for the benefit of people with similar interest or needs.
For your information, you can check out Foothill College, De Anza College, various community schools and golf courses for their schedules and costs.

Due to the distance and locality, we welcome anyone desires to form their own regional subgroups to take golf lessons or practices together but participate with this club for joint activities.
Special Events
We are open to all ideas and welcome anyone to freely propose or sponsor activities for the club. We have accomplished some and discussed some potential activities: Nature outings, away golf travel and sightseeing trips, and the ultimate golf tournament. We also do not miss any chance to enjoy gourmet eating at a good restaurant when suggested to us.
