Hike at Rancho San Antonio Park, Cupertino


Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve is a popular hiking area in the south bay. We are going to see a great view of Silicon Valley and some wildlife. This will be a two-hour easy hike for everyone.

 

· Time and Date: 4:00pm, Sep 2 (Sun), 2007

 

· Meet: At the trail head close to Cristo Rey Drive, Cupertino.

 

· Directions:

(1) From I-280, north or south, take the Foothill Boulevard exit and proceed south on Foothill Boulevard approximately 0.2-mile to Cristo Rey Drive. Turn right on Cristo Rey Drive, continue for about 1 mile, veer right around the traffic circle, and turn left into the County Park entrance. There are several parking lots, including one designated for equestrian trailers. The trailhead for the preserve is located adjacent to the 85-car parking area in the northwest lot.

(2) Use Google map:

       A. Go to http://maps.google.com

       B. Enter “37.3323,-122.0874”

         C. Get your driving direction.

 

· Total hike length: ~5 miles

 

· Total elevation gained: ~500 feet

· Bring: Water, layered clothing, hats, sunscreen, snacks, and whatever you want.

 

· Rain policy: In case of rain, the hike will be postponed.
A cancellation  announcement will be posted on the Coconut website (
http://www.ntuaa.org/Clubs/Coconut/) on Sun (Sep 2) morning.
An Email will also be sent out to Coconut Club at that time.

 

· Description:
Information and map are available at (
http://www.openspace.org/preserves/pr_rancho_san_antonio.asp). We will start on Permenente Creek Trail, continued on Lower Meadow and Rogue Valley. Follow the Wildcat Loop and stop at the Vista Point where we can see the valley and the south bay. We’ll take the Coyote Trail back to the trail head at around 6:00 or 6:30 pm. Dinner is optional after hike. 

 

· If you are late on that day, just give me a call. We may
(1) wait for you (if you are not too late),
(2) ask you to wait for us at the trail head for dinner, or
(3) tell you to go home (if you are really late).
